Week 8: Tingley Email Campaign 2 continued

 BLOG QUESTIONS:

» What role do the designers at your site play in the development of concepts and strategies for its clients/customers? » Based on your experience on the job so far, have you determined whether this field is right for you? Why or why not?

The company is divided in three parts; content, design and developer. The content team works closet to the client to establish goals, desires and what is going to be included. They write scripts and deliver this to the design team who creates the work in specific perimeters so that the development team can deliver to the best of their abilities. I worked with the design team to make different deliverables according to the content teams rules/ layout. We are asked to make two versions of certain items which allows us some more creative freedom and collaborate on the design more. This is definitely where I fit best in the team and what I enjoyed doing the most. I did not get involved in the development as I Have zero interest in that field but I also touched the content team a little and did some work for them. It was fine but definitely not as enjoyable as the design team where I felt more creative. Therefore I would say I am headed in the right direction.

7/11/ 2022: MONDAY

9:30-11:00: team meeting

11:15-12:30: meeting with Jerry

12:30-1:30: working on email

1:30-1:45: check up

1:45-2:15: final edits and submission

During the team meeting my name was brought up when talking about Tingley and that is when Jerry let me know we would meet and discuss my work on that campaign. After which we met and together we went through the email and it was revealed to me how bad my practices were within photoshop. I am used to working by myself and when something is done, its done. But I didn’t change this work process despite working within a team. So today Jerry tasked me with fixing my photoshop file to improve my practices and really teach me what it means to work in a team. I had to organize my layers and turn everything into smart objects. It was disappointing because I feel I let them down but at the same time I learned a lot because of this meeting. Especially asking Jerry questions about how to go about cutting out items/ images and learning new techniques. So I spent the day rebuilding my file and giving it back to him at the end of the day.

7/12/ 2022: TUESDAY

9:00-12:00: journaling organization and learning series

12:00-12:30: meeting with Jerry

1:00- 2:00: Tingley email #2

Jerry and I had a meeting for 12:00, so I spent the morning catching up on some Business Made Simple learning series videos as well as cleaning up my journaling and blogs. Then during my meeting Jerry gave his seal of approval on my practices and then gave me some instructions on how to improve on aesthetics. He gave me next Monday as the deadline as it would take me a little longer then what I had till the end of the day. I took some notes and they were very straightforward so I just went down the list and applied his notes to the file and at the end I was happy with it and felt it fit the company’s style and previous works.

HIGHLIGHTS: Got to work pretty independently which helped me get into the groove

PROBLEMS: journaling for the internship was a little chaotic because I had a backlog of organization to do

ISSUES: Had to redo some files because I had a problem with file size/ structure.

Here is the second and third attempt of the email campaign. The second one looks very similar because it was more focused on file organization and rebuilding:
