BLOG QUESTIONS:
» What outside influences impact your employer and their business? For example, are there licensing issues, state statutes, economic concerns, or other external pressures that play a big role in the success of this business? What are they, and how do they impact this business?
There are often external influences that impact Ridge Marketing as marketing is a very competitive field with a lot of regulations you have to abide by. Including licensing issues, for example when trying to help market some new face mask skin care products they had wanted to use "Party Animal" or something more modern but had to opt for "Late Night Socialite" in order to avoid copyright issues. These same issues can come up when creating designs and branding as well.
Covid 19 effected everyone including Ridge Marketing and it changed dynamics. For two years the team has been working remotely with only going into the office a few days a week. This is not necessarily a negative change as it allowed me to be fully participatory even out of the state. But external environmental sources had a big impacts in how they had to change their office / team structure.

9:30-11:00: team meeting
11:10-11:30: Rob and Rose meeting
12:00-2:00: Google certification
The team meeting flowed as usual but since most of this doesn't apply to me, I also looked at some google certification modules in addition. Just to try to bang that out because it is ridiculously slow and boring. I got a little bit done but there is still a long way to go. Rob did let me know during the meeting that I would be trying something new and would be working under Rose today for the Tingley email campaign for the week. After the meeting the three of us had a small talk about what we were going to be doing and what was expected of me. I learned this was going to be a summer themed email that showcases two specific boots for Tingley. It was interesting because he showed us a competitor as a reference and how we were going to be going away from our usual style and try a different approach similar to theirs. They also gave me the old email campaigns to use as reference as well. Rose wasn’t ready for me to take on the task just yet, she had to do some organizing and file collection for me first so instead I worked independently that way I could start right away on Tuesday.

9:00-2:00: Tingley Email Campaign (with check ups with Rose)
I started on the email campaign and I had my ups and downs. I used the resources Rose and Rob gave me including the script, the past references and the template file. But I think it was challenging for me because I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted it to look like so it was a lot of experimenting and trying things little by little to see what looked good. Rose gave me some good advice looking at my work about spacing and limitations of what their program could achieve and how to work in those parameters. It was interesting because I had a lot of limitations to work within but also a lot of creative freedom. Overall I found it a good project for me to practice and learn with. I wouldn't call my email campaign finished but I was still proud of what I accomplished.
HIGHLIGHTS: New project had me motivated for Tingley
PROBLEMS: I didn't finish by the end of the day
ISSUES: I was not very confident in my first design submition
